Amanda Seyfried Lands Miu Miu’s Fall 2016 Campaign

Categories:Fashion

American actress Amanda Seyfried became famous after her role for one of the Mean Girls main characters, with her notorious ‘on Wednesday we wear pink!’ quote still being cited nowadays. In the upcoming fall, however, Seyfried will be wearing Miu Miu every day of the week, as she officially landed Miu Miu’s fall 2016 campaign along with other models and personalities.

Captured by photographer Alasdair McLellan, the actress joins Jeny Howorth, Mayowa Nicholas, Anna Ewers, Dasha Dogusheva, Dilia Martins, and Taylor Hill on stage, who embody all of the high society archetypes one may think of.

Styled by LOVE Magazine’s editor-in-chief Katie Grand, the Miu Miu fall/winter 2016 campaign features collages of both muse Amanda and It-models, as well as pictures of the Houghton Hall gardens and solid-colored backgrounds, which truly give an editorial cut to the shoot that is clearly closer to the style of magazines rather than fashion campaigns.

“Found Narratives: Amanda Seyfried leads an enigmatic cast of characters through a weekend of playful reverie, in @alasdairmclellan’s debut campaign for Miu Miu,” captioned the brand on its Instagram’s account, revealing that one may actually read a story behind all those incredible photos.

British fashion photographer Alasdair McLellan, who got discovered by iconic magazine I-D and is mainly famous for being able to capture models’ candidness, perfectly managed to bring out the personality of all the stars in this campaign, using nothing but natural lights and natural poses to make everything look more realistic.

““Any hour for my friends” is the motto inscribed on the sundial in the gardens of the historic Norfolk estate, Houghton Hall. With its 24-hour lived-in decadence, it is the perfect environment in which to explore the layers of modernity and history in the motifs of the #miumiuAW16 collection,” teased Miu Miu on a second post on Instagram.

For this reason, the campaign’s pictures look either as static portraits or as casual moments from the life of the socialites, whose passions include dressing up in the fanciest way while hanging out together. The Miu Miu FW 2016 fashion line lends itself particularly well to this theme, mainly thanks to the cascades of pearls, frills, loads of pleats, argyle knits and pilgrim necks used as the main details for the outfits showcased.

Retro prints, double-breasted coats and classic embroidered handbags help to reinforce these motifs even more. The picture of Amanda Seyfried wearing a crisp white dress with a sensually naïve off-the-shoulder neckline, an elegant slicked-back hairdo, and a statement handbag with fresh sewed patches is definitely the most iconic one in the entire campaign.

Zoe Kazan Chooses Miu Miu Sneakers for the Red Carpet

Categories:Other Brands

Zoe Kazan Miu Miu Metallic Cap Toe Slip-On Sneakers

Actress Zoe Kazan recently walked the red carpet at the premiere of What If in a pair of Miu Miu Cap-Toe Slip-On Sneakers. Casual slip-ons are an interesting choice for any red carpet, but I think Zoe pulls it off here. Frankly, I find it refreshing to see a little variety during a long summer full of single-soled sandals. You can find Zoe’s exact sneakers.

Zoe very much looks the part of “young, fresh new Hollywood ingenue,” but she’s actually been getting steady work in films since 2007. Her new flick What If is a rom-com (of sorts) that also serves as a send-up to the genre itself. Daniel Radcliffe plays her friend and potential love interest.

Love it or Leave it: The Heeled Rain Boot by Miu Miu

Categories:Other Brands

Miu Miu Cap Toe Rain Boot

Rain boots are having a bit of a moment. A very strong moment, you could say, but definitely a moment. Unlike seasons ago, rain boots are now a chic, sought-after staple, and fashionable rain boots are certainly in demand. It’s hard to walk down a rainy NYC street without seeing a pair of Hunter boots, or any kind of rubber rain boots. Luxury designers have also jumped on the rain boot bandwagon, and leave to Miu Miu to excite us (or revolt us) with these high heeled rain boots.

The patent-leather-and-rubber design of these Miu Miu rain boots is definitely an interesting one. The drawstring nylon upper, rubber cap toe and patent leather heel give this rain boot a futuristic appeal. I never thought I would like a rain boot like this, but I have to say I’m smitten! The heel isn’t too high to make this an impractical choice in the rainy weather, and the thick rubber sole will keep me grounded, even if I step (or jump) in a puddle or two.

Miu Miu normally knows how to hit me wherever it hurts

Categories:Other Brands

Right within the wallet. For some reason, Miu Miu’s bags usually don’t tempt me really as a lot as every thing (and I do imply everything) else that the manufacturer makes, especially its shoes. Still, if Miuccia have been to personally deduct income from my traditional bank account each month and deliver me a arbitrary Miu Miu item of her choosing, I wager I’d be thrilled a minimal of 11 weeks out with the year.If it have been the Miu Miu Pushlock Lady tote that showed up on my doorstep, it seems I would be. like a satchel or a shoulder tote (maybe even a crossbody – Bergdorfs doesn’t checklist the strap drop), this just-big-enough retro throwback is every thing I want in the fall handbag. This straight-laced, structured appear has been in favor since Celine created us all dizzy with the Classic Box several seasons ago, and perhaps considering of its grown-up, retro-modern appeal, the trend doesn’t apear to be waning at any time soon. At $1350, not only is this tote somewhat much less pricey than most comparable designs from comparable brands, nonetheless it also appears just like a offer relative to Miu Miu’s increasing prices. Does anybody still remember when Miu Miu must have been a Prada diffusion brand? Aren’t diffusion brands typically…less? And really, that’s the only real complaint that I have.

Miu Miu Spring Collection: Off The Deep End With Arty Crap Collection

Categories:Other Brands

So, early this week I wrote a piece about how much I`m loving Prada right now, so I thought it would be fitting to look at kid-sister line, Miu Miu, and see what they`ve been up to. Given the fab output from Prada this year, I reasoned that Miu Miu must have some good stuff going on too. Sadly, Miu Miu`s Spring collection is a huge disappointment – especially coming on the heels of such an excellent Prada collection.

Miu Miu Spring: Gaudy and Over-the-Top

The thing that I love about Prada`s Spring line is that it`s vibrant and fun without taking it too far. Great colours in classic styles with a dash of playful adornment – that`s all you need to make exciting bags. Miu Miu`s Spring 2011 line, in contrast, just looks like they`re trying too hard to make something new and unique. And, they`ve followed the current trend of using intensely bright colours, so we get set of overly elaborate, flashy, tasteless bags. The dress and bag above are just gross. Here`s a close up of that bag:

Why would anyone ever make a bag that colour? It hurts my eyes, it`s so bad!

What you can`t really see that well in the above pic are the strange cut-out straps and leather appliqués that are common in these bags (that neon-green bag has a cut-out strap, it`s just a bit blurry in that image). Here`s a better example:

Now, I can admit that it`s a nice idea. I think cut-out designs can be quite beautiful. But, this is just way to ornate for an everyday bag. And what`s with the chrome gloss, pink, and gold? It looks like they`re trying to pack in as many unsettling colours as they possible can. Hey Miuccia, it`s not cutting edge or avant garde to crowd your bags with gaudy colours – it`s just silly.

Ok. So, I`m not super fond of this collection, but I can admit that it`s not all bad. There are a few really nice pieces in here amongst all the clutter. I find that the collection works best when they simplify their tour-de-force, especially in the colour department, and when those appliqués are actually attractive. Here`s an example of a great outfit:

That dress with vibrant red, black and white – it`s really cool. And, the jacket is super cool, and strangely sexy. The only problem is, I don`t think I could actually wear it. In fact, I can`t even imagine anyone I know wearing this outfit. It`s still a little bit too out-there to be worn by most ladies, even if it looks great on the runway.

Here`s a bag I quite like:

So, in theory that appliqué should be just as hideous the rest of the collection, right? I mean, gold glitter and peach? Can that possibly work? I think that it does. You know why? Because it`s placed on a simple, white bag. This simple canvas gives the beautiful phoenix-esque flame design room to breath – it`s not competing with neon green or crimson red. This bag proves that Miuccia Prada still has a great eye for design, she just misses the mark sometimes when she aims for bags that are too arty.
